Back to School Shot Clinics Scheduled

First Choice Community Healthcare centers are making it easy to get kids vaccinated in time for back-to-school registration requirements, but as importantly, promoting vaccination as the best way for parents to protect their children from 14 serious diseases before they turn 2 years old.

First Choice will hold special shot clinics at four of its locations in the month of August, recognized as National Immunization Awareness Month.

For a complete list of vaccination clinics at public health offices and other locations, including the South Valley Health Commons, Alamosa and Alameda locations shared with Public Health, visit Got Shots Protect Tots.

Vaccinations can also be arranged by appointment at all First Choice locations, and can be given as part of an annual well-child visit. Families who need help paying for childhood vaccines should ask their health care provider about the Vaccines for Children program, which provides vaccines at no cost.

First Choice doctors urge people to talk to their provider or other health care professional to make sure their children get the vaccinations they need when they need them.  Our providers are pleased that most parents are vaccinating their children. Estimates from a CDC nationally representative childhood vaccine communications poll (April 2012 online poll) suggest that most people are vaccinating according to schedule. In fact, 88 percent of parents reported that they are vaccinating according to schedule or are intending to do so.
