First Choice Community Healthcare (FCCH) is proud to partner with Albuquerque Public Schools and Rio Grande High School (RGHS) to provide a school-based health center on the RGHS campus. School-based healthcare is a nationally recognized tool that helps increase access to healthcare and promotes healthcare equity for school children. Healthcare available at school saves time and money, decreases missed school days and often avoids parental loss of work time. SBHCs work to promote student wellness and success.

RGHS school-based health center (SCHC) offers primary care and behavioral health services by FCCH providers during school hours. The SBHC also partners with nearby FCCH sites to provide needed care that may not be available at the school site.

Available services:
  • Behavioral Health services (may be confidential based on NM statute)
  • Physical exams
  • Health education
  • Family Planning services (may be confidential based on NM statute)
  • Sick visits
  • Some in-house labs tests.
  • Birth control pills at a discounted rate.

Teen Clinic

First Choice provides low-cost confidential family planning services to teenagers up to age 19. Services include pregnancy testing, family planning counseling, contraceptives, reproductive health examinations and treatment. There is no charge for the provider visit or in-house lab tests. Birth control pills can be dispensed from the health center. The cost of contraceptives and prescriptions varies. All First Choice Health Centers provide family planning services with an appointment.

In addition, the South Valley Family Health Commons offers a walk-in clinic for teens on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2-4 pm.
